On Saturday, 9/30 we will commemorate the Birthday of Lahiri Mahasaya with an evening service. Please not the special start time of 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend to attend both services. Post Convocation Catered Indian Food Social, Sunday, August 20

After services on Sunday August 20th we will have a Post Convocation Catered Indian Food Social. Devotees who attend this year’s Convocation will share their memories and inspirational stories and experiences from the week of talks on Master’s teachings and the wonderful gathering of SRF devotees from around the world. Guru Purnima Service, Saturday July 8, in honor of Guru Purnima, July 9

On Saturday, July 8, a special Guru Purnima service honoring our guru, Paramahansa Yogananada, will be held from 9am to Noon in place of the regular Saturday Meditation format. The service will feature recordings about Master, the guru-disciple relationship, and Indian-led chanting. All are welcome. If you are unable to attend from the beginning, please enter the chapel only during a chant. Meditation, Kirtan, & Pot-Luck Social, Saturday June 17, 9 am – 1 pmVenu's Family

Join us for an uplifting day of meditation, chanting, and fellowship. The Kirtan will be followed by a Pot-Luck dinner and fellowship. Everyone is asked to bring a vegetarian dish. Please come at your convenience for these events. Come for any or all of them. Our usual entry guidelines apply for meditation portions. Please enter or exit during the chants. We hope you will consider coming to this event and enjoy great fellowship with us. The day’s events are scheduled as:

All-Day Fall Retreat at Lake Texoma

On Saturday, May 20th, we will hold our Spring All-Day Retreat from 10am to 5pm at the home of Lynn Meyer overlooking Lake Texoma. This a wonderful day that members look forward to for rejuvenating the body, mind, and spirit. Please see our Retreat page for details, a list of activities, and directions.

Sunday School Play, Sunday April 30

After services on Sunday, April 30, our Sunday School children will perform a play for the entire meditation group. The play is from Master’s story, Two Frogs in Trouble. Light refreshments will be served after the play.

Good Friday Service, April 14, 6 to 9 pm

On Friday, April 14, we will commemorate Good Friday with a special 2-hour meditation service from 6 to 9 pm.  After the service begins, devotees may leave or arrive on the hour during a chant.

Spring Service Celebration, Sunday, March 26

After services on Sunday, March 26, we hold a Spring Service Celebration in honor of everyone’s service to our group and the worldwide spiritual work of SRF. We will provide vegetarian sandwiches, cake and drinks. Everyone is invited as our way of  saying “Thank You” for your contribution through your meditation, donations, and overall support of our group and Master’s work.

Join us on Saturday, December 17, for the custom established by Paramahansa Yogananda of devoting an entire day united in spiritual effort and in deepening communion with God and Christ. Many Self-Realization Fellowship devotees have come to regard the All-Day Christmas Meditation as the most important event of the year. Please join us on Sunday, November 20, for our annual Thanksgiving Social. Everyone is welcome. Please bring a potluck dish of one of the following: green beans, mashed potatoes or other potato dish, green salad, cranberry or other fruit dish. Tofu turkey with vegetarian gravy, dessert, and drinks will be provided! We heartily invite you and your family to join us for our annual tradition of giving thanks for our many blessings.

SRF Youth Services will be conducting a one-day Regional Day Programs for boys at Lake Texoma on Saturday, October 15. Programs will be for boys ages 7-12 and teens 13-18.

Brahmacharini Angelina and Brahmacharini Emily of Self-Realization Fellowship, who will lead the SRF Regional Day Program for Girls at Lake Texoma on Saturday, will be leading our services and Sunday School at the Irving Chapel on Sunday, October 9th. Despite numerous visits by SRF monks, this will be the first time SRF nuns have visited Dallas-Fort Worth since our group began in 1972. Services will be followed by a Catered Social and Satsanga.

2016 SRF World Convocation

August 7-13, the annual SRF World Convocation will be held at the the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. for the thousands who attend from around the world, Convocation is an opportunity to deepen one’s understanding of Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings and receive the tools and inspiration necessary for spiritual growth. The week of spiritual fellowship includes instruction on meditation, “How to Live” classes, pilgrimages to Yogananda’s shrines, Kriya Yoga initiations, and more.

Tuesday, July 19, marks the date of this year’s annual Guru Purnima in India. This holy tradition honors the divine messenger God sends in response to the devotee’s soul-call. On this day, let us lay at the feet of our own beloved Gurudeva flowers of eternal gratitude, love, and devotion for his countless blessings and Divine aid on our spiritual path.

International Day of Yoga2nd Annual International Day of Yoga

June 19th marks the second annual “International Day of Yoga” inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India and instituted by the United Nations. Widely recognized as the father of yoga in the West, Paramahansa Yogananda introduced millions of seekers to India’s ancient Yoga science. In a 2015 article, DaijiWorld, an online news portal, wrote : “If India’s idea of an International Yoga Day has found easy acceptance in the UN, much of the credit must go to Paramahansa Yogananda, India’s first yoga guru in the U.S…He played a huge role in laying the foundation for yoga in the United States a century ago.”

The DFW Meditation Group will be having a Center Department Visit the weekend of May 27-29, 2016. All are invited to a workshop on Saturday that will focus on group activities. The two Brahmacharis that are visiting us are Br. Wolfgang and Br. Lynn. They will arrive on Thursday, May 26 and activities will begin on Friday, May 27th. Please join us for this weekend of fellowship with inspirational services and a workshop. The monastics will be giving our Sunday services on Sunday, May 29th. The first service will be held at the traditional time from Noon to 3 pm, and the second service will be from 6 to 9 pm for those who are working and are unable to attend the noon service. Join us on Saturday, December 20, for the custom established by Paramahansa Yogananda of devoting an entire day united in spiritual effort and in deepening communion with God and Christ. Many Self-Realization Fellowship devotees have come to regard the All-Day Christmas Meditation as the most important event of the year. August 3-9, the annual SRF World Convocation will be held at the the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. for the thousands who attend from around the world, Convocation is an opportunity to deepen one’s understanding of Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings and receive the tools and inspiration necessary for spiritual growth. The week of spiritual fellowship includes instruction on meditation, “How to Live” classes, pilgrimages to Yogananda’s shrines, Kriya Yoga initiations, and more.

On Saturday, June 7, the DFW Meditation Group will conduct a Guided Meditation service from 9 am to 12 Noon. In Guided Meditation, devotees are led step-by-step into meditation through voice-guided prayer, affirmations, imagery, and the SRF techniques of meditation. On Friday, April 18th, we will commemorate Good Friday with two special meditation services here in the chapel. The first service will be held at the traditional time from Noon to 3 pm, and the second one will be from 6 to 9 pm for those who are working and are unable to attend the noon service.

Austin Monastics Visit, Friday April 11 – Sunday April 13 

The second weekend in April, Brother Ritananda and Brahmachari Andy from the SRF Mother Center will visit Austin. Activities will include Meditations, a Group Introspection Workshop, a Satsanga and more. Members from the Dallas-Ft. Worth Meditation Group are welcome to attend. Dharma and Yoga Fest, September 28

As part of nationwide events commemorating the 150th birth of Swami Vivekananda, Self-Realization Fellowship is participating in the Dharma and Yoga Fest 2013 in major U. S. cities, including Los Angeles. On Saturday, September 28, the DFW Meditation Group will participate in the Dharma and Yoga Fest Dallas at the DFW Hindu Temple, 1605 N. Britain Rd. in Irving a few blocks down the street from the DFW Meditation Group Center. Cultural events and presentations on different branches of yoga will be held from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. As part of the Raja Yoga track from 3 to 5, the DFW Meditation Group will conduct a Guided Meditation from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Meditation Hall. As a courtesy to the organizers and attendees to keep from disrupting other Raja Yoga presentations, we encourage you to attend the entire Raja Yoga track beginning at 3 p.m. We also heartily encourage you to stay after the Yoga tracks for interesting and colorful cultural events, including:

  • Great classical Indian Dance & Music performance by expert groups
  • Skits on Swami Vivekananda
  • Krishna Leela
  • Keynote Speeches
  • Grand Finale!
