Welcome to the Dallas-Ft. Worth Meditation Group of Self-Realization Fellowship

Paramahansa Yogananda, founder of Self-Realization Fellowship

Established in 1972, the Dallas-Ft. Worth Meditation Group is the official branch of Self-Realization Fellowship in North Texas. All our services and activities are open to the public, and there are no fees or costs to attend. Everyone is welcome.

For over 45 years we have hosted numerous SRF monastics bringing the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda to the DFW area. Visiting monastics conduct public lectures, retreats, and workshops, giving instructions in the SRF techniques of meditation, and also initiate members into the Kriya Yoga path of Self-Realization Fellowship.

In addition to social activities, and twice-yearly retreats at Lake Texoma, every Sunday the Dallas-Fort Worth Group conducts two meditation services and Sunday School. There is also a three-hour meditation every Saturday from 9 am to 12 noon.

Sunday Services

Our Sunday Reading Service which is 11 a.m. to noon, is the most recommended service for newcomers, as it consists of shorter periods of meditation. The meditation service beginning at 10 a.m. is almost entirely silent meditation. Both services end with the Healing Technique taught by our founder, Paramahansa Yogananda.

In both services, we meditate with our eyes closed and seated on chairs. If you have no definite technique of meditation, that is ok. Simply talk to God in the language of your heart.

Those interested in learning the SRF techniques of meditation are encouraged to sign up for the SRF Lessons or visit this site for an excellent introductory video series and basic meditation instruction.

To meditate in the Chapel, you must be at least 12 years old.  For those who are younger, we have Sunday School (please contact us in advance).

Bookroom, Free Literature, and Lending Library

We maintain a well-stocked bookroom in which all of the major titles from SRF are available for purchase after the 11 am Sunday service ends at noon. Additionally, Free Literature about Yogananda, SRF, and the DFW Meditation Group is available at our Irving Chapel and we also have many SRF books available in Spanish. A Lending Library also makes most SRF publications available to borrow at no cost.
